Step 1. You call and reach a person

Call at any hour and a person picks up. We ask three things: where the fire was, whether the building is safe, and whether the power and gas are off. Then we tell you what to do while the truck loads.

Step 2. Securing the building

First we make the building safe and keep the weather out. We board up doors and windows and tarp the roof where it opened up. Then we walk the structure and mark the spots that are unsafe to step on.

That speed also means a heavy water load inside the building we just secured. We pull that water out the same day, because wet framing left over a weekend turns a fire loss into a mold loss.

Step 3. A free estimate, walked with you

We walk the property with you before any cleaning starts. It costs nothing and there is nothing to sign.

You get a written scope built from a current Xactimate list. It shows the worst case, plus a number the job stays under. We split contents from structure right there, so you learn what gets cleaned in place and what leaves the house.

Step 4. Soot removal, cleaning and odor

Soot comes off in an order, dry first and wet second. We start with a dry chem sponge, which lifts the loose soot off the surface. Wetting that soot first pushes it into the paint or the plaster, where it sets.

Then we go after the odor, which settles into framing, insulation, ductwork and soft goods. We clean the source, seal what has to be sealed, and treat the air. We are after the smell itself, rather than a scent laid over the top of it.

Older homes take longer, because plaster, open stud bays and a crawlspace give smoke room to travel and somewhere to sit.

Step 5. Your invoice and the timeline

Billing comes after the work is finished. The invoice follows the written scope you approved at the estimate, line for line. Anything we added along the way shows up as its own line, with the reason beside it.

The invoice reaches you within three to five business days of the job closing, and terms are Net 30. You also get the full file: 360 room scans, daily moisture and humidity logs, photos and video.
